Hi, I’m Ally
I’ve been dancing since I could hear the music, and I have no plans on stopping anytime soon. I like to think that I’ve never once fallen in love with dance, but that each day in the studio, in rehearsal, or on stage is an opportunity to fall in love with it all over again. I love feeling like I am becoming something a little different each time I move.
My dance training began at a local dance studio in my hometown of Horsham, PA, which grew into years of competitive dance, and the occasional musical, before moving to NYC after high school to see just how far my love of dance could take me. Three bucks, two bags, one me…ya know? I came with a lot of curiosity, a little bit of nerve, and a deep love for my craft. I’m still following that feeling.
Since then, dance has become much more than something I do. It’s how I make sense of the world, how I connect with people, and often, how I find my way back to myself. Whether I’m performing, teaching, or simply finding a rhythm in the clank of the subway to tap along to, I am always learning, always moving, and always looking for another reason to fall in love with dance.
Lately…
“What I long for is the eagerness to meet life, the curiosity, the wonder that you feel when you can really move—to work toward a perfect first or a perfect fifth position. There becomes an excitement, an avidity, a forgetfulness of everyone about you. You are so completely absorbed in this instrument that is vibrant to life.”
